Evgen Bavcar

Evgen Bavcar was born in Slovenia. At the age of eleven he became blind as a result of an accident. He studied philosophy and history at the University of Paris and obtained a doctorate in 1976. In the early period of his life he became interested in photography making his first photos in 1966.

Bavcar makes his images in complete darkness. He uses a torch or flashlight to create light effects on the photographic paper. He asks children to describe the results to him and makes his selection of finished workson this basis.
